Opportunity Culture® Consultants
Opportunity Culture Consultants (2026-27)
We are currently building a pool of strong candidates for consulting roles supporting the Opportunity Culture initiative at Public Impact. Our projected workload for 2026-27 is growing, and we are now recruiting qualified candidates for anticipated start dates between September 1, 2026 - January 15, 2027.
We will review applications on a rolling basis, with benchmark deadlines of: July 19, August 30, and October 4.
Note: If you submitted an application for our fall/winter 2025-26 or spring 2026 consultant postings, you do not need to reapply.
Public Impact is a national education management consulting firm, based in Chapel Hill, N.C. Our mission is to improve education dramatically for all students, especially students whose needs have not yet been well met. We collaborate with teachers and school and system leaders to implement changes that will help the students they serve, and believe that if we focus on a core set of promising strategies for change, we and our partners and clients can make bold improvements for all students, with long-term financial sustainability and success.
Toward that end, we:
- Extend the reach of excellent teaching to all students, through Opportunity Culture School Design, an initiative to redesign staffing, pay and instruction for higher-growth learning and educator satisfaction. Multiple third-party studies have shown that students supported by Multi-Classroom Leader educators (an Opportunity Culture role) add an extra half year of learning annually, on average. Teachers in these schools are about twice as likely to recommend teaching compared to other teachers nationally, and teacher turnover and vacancies have declined in studied schools. Schools in seventeen states and Washington, D.C. now have Opportunity Culture schools.
- Use data, research, and curious problem-solving to create and spread high-impact innovations and solutions for education policy and management challenges.
Role: Consultants work on teams facilitating Opportunity Culture school transformations, using Multi-Classroom Leader roles, Team Reach™ roles, advanced paraprofessional positions, and other innovative strategies to boost student learning and educator pay. Consultants support school and district design teams made up of teachers and administrators to plan, implement and improve new roles, schedules, budgets, and instructional changes, including small-group tutoring. Team members may also work on other projects, such as delivering professional learning experiences for OC™ educators, coaching teacher-leaders and principals, designing innovations, and creating/editing materials. Career advancement includes increasingly complex and large project team leadership, people management, increasing technical expertise to improve results, and outreach to serve more students nationally.
Consultants should expect to:
- Guide educators and other leaders to design and implement Opportunity Culture School Design and instructional excellence, with significant support and guidance from experienced Public Impact teammates.
- Learn from and be developed by colleagues with substantial experience collaborating with educators to implement school design models that achieve high-growth student learning, field-leading teacher satisfaction, and world-class client satisfaction ratings.
- Support clients to design and improve Opportunity Culture implementation by following certification and validation standards correlated with student learning.
- Contribute to sales efforts to reach more students with Opportunity Culture models by identifying potential new clients and funding sources, drafting scopes of work, participating in sales calls, and other outreach efforts.
- Use meticulously-honed materials and steps, edited annually to reflect data, research, and PI's decade+ of experience collaborating with educators to redesign schools.
- Contribute to ongoing innovation for stronger results and processes.
- Participate in and later lead collaborative, diverse client/colleague teams of increasing size and complexity.
- Present Public Impact work accurately and influentially, in writing and speaking.
- Produce excellent technical work that impacts students and educators positively.
Qualifications: We are recruiting for early - mid-level roles only at this time, because we have an exceptional advanced professional and leadership corps, which new entrants will join as they learn and Opportunity Culture grows.
